Welcome
Back Cellissimo!

Music at Stow is very excited to welcome back CELLISSIMO, a Quartet of Cellos, who play together in an exquisitely special format. They first performed in Stow-on-the-Wold in 2017, returning by popular demand, in 2019 and 2022 and completely captivated our audience on each occasion.

The cello, with its incredibly rich tone is an extremely versatile instrument. With its four-octave range, it lends itself particularly well to quartet playing, easily covering the sweet, high treble end of the instrument, as well as the warm, darker lower range that we are more familiar with. In fact, the cello’s warm, sonorous timbre makes it, some say, nearest to the quality of the human voice.

The concert will include familiar favourites, and lesser known gems by a variety of composers, who never realised that their music could sound so special played by a cello quartet, as many of the items in the programme have been specially arranged for this concert!

Whether you get excited by Hans Zimmer's Pirates of the Carribean, like to sway to the classic Elizabethan Serenade, or feel compelled to dance to music by the passionate Astor Piazzolla, there will surely be something here for you to enjoy - and they are serving FREE cake & tea/coffee during the interval!
